I am Psycho Ben (my nickname comes from my university courses in psychology, reassure you I am not a psychopath !), the editor of this blog (at the same time I’m all alone in writing it so I can be as I want !). I’ll try to help you discover through it my passion for Japan, its culture and especially its video game. Indeed, I deal for the majority of Japanese games. It’s not that I don’t play “western” games, but I prefer  to confine me in Japanese creations which are already very prolific. Between two tests I thus addressing other more general themes relating to Japan. having the chance to be went to visit twice (never two without three : I return next year !) this beautiful country I would like to share my impressions and emotions during these getaways in the land of the sun rising.

Just a few seconds to wait before I can buy the PSP !

The first time in Japan was a fantasy realized : it was in 2004 for the output of the DS and the PSP ! I was able to live the crazyness of Japanese geeks ready to make the tail during 10 hours to buy one of these consoles. Not wanting to die stupid I participated in this choppy march in the cold rain a sunday of December to finally hold the Holy Grail. And as I wanted the two consoles I renew this physical and mental torture again !

Is it an earthquake !?

I’m talking about my first trip to Japan as a fantasy because I was finally in the world I had always dreamed about in manga and video games. Arriving in Tokyo by night could only remember to me Akira and its colourful neons : I finally shared the daily lives of Kaneda and Tetsuo ! Every district of this sprawling city was a revelation between centuries-old tradition and modernism. Of course i wish to present you in my next articles what I enjoyed as well as what it’s better to avoid to do or to see in Japan. I think anyway that there will be more personal favourites in my articles more than disappointment as it is fascinating.

An arcade game at Ikebukuro

My second trip helped me visiting this country more in detail. Indeed the first time i Stood in Tokyo and its suburbs. For this return I allowed me to go to Kyoto and its region (Nara, Arashiyama) and even the beautiful island of Miyajima. Benefited from the extraordinary spectacle of flowering cherry trees surrounding the ancient feudal castles. The expatriation was temporal and architectural : I felt to be back at the time of the Japanese samurai ! Next year I want to see the northern part of Honshu (the largest island of Japan which include between others Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima), specifically Nikko and Matsushima.

A traditional garden in Tokyo

Since novice in blog writing I am counting on your indulgence. please feel free to respond to my articles. I am not infuse science and wish to have your comments back to know if my prose suit you. If you need information in real time over the life video-playful Tokyo I would do my utmost to deliver the recent unpublished content. Indeed, I am fortunate to have permanent contact with friends living there and who are all buffs in high tech and the charm of this country in general.

So closing this presentation which I hope will give you desire in knowing a little more on this culture if refined both and pioneering.

Sayonara !

Psycho Ben.
